January 17, 2011 – Song 74

I can not believe you bitches are making me do this two days in a row.

Oh Sweet Caroline Yohanan In The City. The day you found your way into the old record store I will forever count as something I can use to prove for the rest of my days that even when things all around are going all kinds of wrong there are just as many things that …are going all kinds of right.

A very long time ago I was pretty lost in the world and I was walking alone on the streets of Toronto. No matter what I was thinking there was this undercurrent to it…a certain sea sickness if you will. And I wasn’t dealing with my nausea… very well. And it was becoming impossible to ignore. Right then I turned the corner and there was literally a sign right in my face larger than life that simply said “MASSIVE CHANGE”*. I stood there for a second in shock because it hadn’t dawned on me just what was happening until that very moment.

These modern seas of ours have been rough babe. But I like to imagine you in a yellow slicker with one of those yellow slicker hats, like the guy on the fish sticks box, brave enough to slide across the deck and grab the wheel even though it’s spinning unchecked. Also in my mind you have a beard and a pipe. But that’s just for fun.

I know I have said it before but I am gonna say it again. You are one of the toughest people I have ever met…which is probably why the folks upstairs put you in the kindest of packages. Such a fucking a sneak attack. Anyway I guess there’s nothing left to do now but to turn to the infinite wisdom of the almighty Zen-A-Day.

“Goodness in words creates trust, goodness in thinking creates depth, goodness in giving creates love.”

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one single step.”

-Lao-Tzu from the Tao Te Ching

It looks old California just struck itself a real heart of gold.
Song 70.

*Massive Change isn’t just a cool thing to say. It’s also this cool thing.
